Milan is one of Europe’s most vibrant cities, and the Padiglione d’Arte Contemporanea (PAC) is its contemporary public art space. Centrally located, it is a founding member of the Association of Italian Contemporary Art Museums (AMACI) and collaborates annually with miart, Milan’s art fair. Designed by Ignazio Gardella in 1954, this has been the first architecture in Italy expressly conceived to present contemporary art, inspired by the concept of the European Kunsthalle. Its spacious, light- filled galleries have been a destination for audiences since 1979, presenting exhibitions that are supported by high-quality publications and diverse programs for education and audience engagement. Over four decades PAC has consolidated its reputation as an organisation dedicated to in-depth exploration and experimentation of recent practices. Its annual exhibition program ranges from solo shows to curated group projects and produces exhibitions in collaboration with curators, museums and exhibition spaces in Italy and abroad. The exhibition program focuses on three line: key figures of the international contemporary art field along with established artists, often still little known to the Italian audience; exploration of other continents through contemporary art; Italian contemporary artists.A
